This Friday Evening, March 9, Blessing for Nisan Birthdays:

In honor of Shabbat Mevarchin, during our Shabbat evening service this Friday, March 9, all those born in the coming Hebrew month of Nisan will be invited to the bimah for a blessing under the congregation's chupah.

Lecture by Har-El Member Orli Shevach – This Saturday Morning, March 10:
On this Saturday morning, March 10, following Shabbat morning services and kiddush, at 11:30 AM we will hear a lecture (in Hebrew) by Har-El member Orli Shevach, who specializes in ecological education, on: "We and the trees around us – the contribution of trees to our quality of life." All are invited!



In honor of the visit of Rabbi Howard Berman, rabbinic director of the Society for Classical Reform Judaism in the USA, we are all invited to two special events:

Saturday, March 17 at 9:30 AM – a joint service together with the Hebrew Union College, here at Kehilat Har-El, led by Rabbi Ada and Cantor Evan, with a sermon in English by Rabbi Howard Berman and with the participation of the HUC student choir directed by Cantor Tamar Havilio.

Tuesday, March 20 at 8:30 PM – a festive concert at the National Library in Givat Ram titled: "Hayshan Yitchadesh – the Old Will Become New: Celebrating the Music of Classical Reform Judaism."  Among the performers will be Cantor Evan.  For more details, please click here Entrance is free!



Registration is Open for the Reform Movement's Biennial at Kibbutz Shefayim, Friday-Saturday, June 1-2, 2018:

On Sunday, March 4, 2018, registration will open for the Reform Movement's biennial convention at Kibbutz Shefayim on the theme: "Between Liberty and Social Responsibility."  This year there will be four tracks: the "regular" track including lodging at Shefayim, the "families with children" track, participation without lodging, and an international/English speaker's track. 

Please note: registration is through the Movement's biennial website: , including payment.

***  Space is limited for those planning on staying at Shefayim or via the "families with children" track.  Therefore, please register as soon as possible.

Many Thanks to Har-El Member Gabi Alexander for His Generous Contribution for Upkeep of the Courtyard's Garden:

This generous contribution, to cover the gardening costs for three months, is in memory of his grandparents Flora z"l and Gehard z"l who perished in the Holocaust.
Grandma Flora is the mother of Miriam Alexander (née Artmann), mother of Gabriel and Michael Alexander.  Grandpa Gerhard is the father of Aharon Werner Alexander z"l, father of Gabriel and Michael Alexander.  May their memories be a blessing!

Kimcha D'fischa" Passover Food Fund and "Each Bottle a Contribution":

Members of the congregation are invited to participate in the Kimcha D'fischa (Passover food drive) campaign and/or the "Each Bottle a Contribution" campaign, held by Keren B'chavod (the social justice fund of the Reform Movement).  As part of the campaign, food parcels will be prepared for needy families in Israel and additional donations will be used for the benefit of the fund's activities throughout the year. Donations can be made in the following ways:

  1. Donating funds for a food parcel for Passover (each one costs 160 NIS).  For more details, please call 1-700-50-1919 or click here .  If you need a donation receipt for tax purposes, please call 054-7791191 before you donated.
  2. Purchasing a bottle of red wine for Passover, in exchange for a donation of 50 NIS that will be collected by "Keren B'chavod".  Bottles of wine can be received before or after Shabbat services by giving Rabbi Ada or Cantor Evan your contact information.  Keren B'chavod will then contact you about collecting the donation.

Overseas Bar Mitzvah at the Egalitarian Kotel, March 8:

On Thursday, March 8, twins Matthew & Jordan Stolow from Canada were called to the Torah as bnai mitzvah at the Egalitarian Kotel.  Mazal tov to them and their family!
